Hello, my name is Dr. Richard Kane. Today we’re going to talk about lasers. Lasers are devices that produce light, basically a monochromatic beam of light. It is often used in industry, by the military, and of course for medical use. Medical laser therapy has become mainstream both worldwide, both in human medicine and in veterinary medicine.
In our hospital alone, we have performed thousands of sessions on pets, treating such diseases as hip dysplasia, arthritis, periodontal disease, otitis, acute injuries, trauma, wounds, some neurologic conditions, some skin conditions, and many others. In the simplest of terms, the light from the laser is targeted to a specific area, where it helps increase blood flow, stimulates cellular production, decreases inflammation and promotes wound healing.
So what are some of the advantages of laser therapy? Well, the big one: it’s non-invasive and it’s pain-free.
